MIFARE is the NXP Semiconductors-owned trademark of a series of integrated circuit (IC) chips used in contactless smart cards based on International Standard ISO 14443A.
Under MIFARE Series, you have four product families as follows
MIFARE Ultralight
MIFARE Classic
MIFARE Plus
MIFARE DESFire
it is common that people refer MIFARE Classic Family of ICs as ‘MIFARE’ as this is the first contactless product. Due to evolving applications and security need, DESFire Family was introduced.
